My name is Mónica Abad and my creative workshop is called De Nieve y de Candelas (Snow and Candles). Perhaps for this reason, most people now know me simply as “Candela”.
Before embarking on this adventure, I studied fine arts at Salamanca and Bilbao with a view to making a living from painting. I have been living that dream for many years now and one of my favourite things to do is paint on everyday objects to bring art closer to our homes. You can find my work on everything from dining tables to umbrellas and cushions.
Another aspect of my work involves working with furniture, fabrics and walls to create unique details to give boutique hotels spaces with soul.
While my working life began in my hometown of Bilbao, I am now happily living and painting in the north of Mallorca. I sell my hand-painted creations all over the world through my onlinestore as well as from my workshop housed within Miga de Nube, an organic café and workshop in the beautiful town of Soller.
